Golf from the Cafe Kronborg

Golf from the Cafe Kronborg
Monday The 22nd October 2007
Pattana ( Stableford) This was a special day as we were trying out the 'Special double discount' offered to Pattaya Sports Club for the Month of October. I think if the Course made this a 'Summer Special' most Years the Course would be much used. This is in all respects a fine Venue to visit, with three very good nines and a Clubhouse second to none.
The day was a little overcast, with strong winds that threatened to blow many golfers away, and in reality as the scores came in that was what happened. The Course itself is a fine open Course, that seems to aid the big hitters, with wide open fairways, rough that is penal but that it is possible to get out of at times. The greens are another matter, and some of the slopes on them are a bit gimmicky, however they are fast and tricky.
On this day we had two flights, in the A Flight the winner with the only sub-par round of the day was Walter Bachli with 37 points. In second was Robert Avery with 33 points and in third was Mashi Kaneta on countback over Elias Magnusson, both with 31 points.
In the B Flight, 18 up, the winner was Mike Winfield with 36 points ahead of Brian Gabe in second with 34 points and Trevor Loersch in third with 33 points.T.T.F.N.

Pattaya is a Golfer's Paradise

Pattaya is long known as the paradise resort of the East. A description aptly suited today to the wide range of world class golf courses within a 40 km radius of the city. But whilst the quality is of top international level, the prices are not. Most courses have been designed to championship standard by the world’s top names in golf course architecture: Laem Chabang by Jack Nicklaus; Sri Racha by Gary Player; Khao Kheow by Pete Dye and St. Andrews by Desmond Muirhead. Nick Faldo even signed for 3 of the lay outs.Playing in this delightful tropical climate, a caddy lightens the load and regular kiosks offer snacks and drinks to keep you fresh for peak performances. Afterwards the high standard of clubhouse facilities and services complete a memorable round of golf wherever you play. At every course you will be welcomed by friendly and courteous staff, to remind you that you are in the Land of Smiles and the Golf Paradise of the East. The courses in the area welcome visitors seven days a week. Carts are compulsory on some but available on all courses. A minimum of 150 Baht tip is expected by the caddy after 18 holes. Courses generally allow 5-balls during the week and a maximum of 4 players per flight on weekends. To ensure a starting time is available, book in advance by phone or fax. Please note that only soft spikes are permissible on all courses on the Eastern Seaboard.
